Life is Good

My children are a constant source of amazement to me.  They are so silly!  They run the gamut from my oldest (16 year old) who is so afraid she won't be able to park at school that she leaves 45 minutes early to my youngest two (7 year old twins) who really think that brushing their teeth is optional!  Some days I just want to pull out my hair but I guess I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have to teach a lesson tonight about self reliance.  I've decided that spiritual self reliance is the way I want to take the lesson.  I know it's really important for each of us to develop our own relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, but I'm afraid the lesson is going to seem to simple.  Read scriptures, pray, attend church, righteous living, repentance when needed.  Those things are so basic.  We've heard them since we were tiny children.  It's just so true.  I hope I can get my point across in a way that doesn't come out as boring.  I've had so many things to do since I was asked to teach this lesson that I feel like I haven't really put enough thought into the whole idea!  I'm going to use some of my quilts as an object lesson.  Talk about how to make a great quilt you have to follow the pattern exactly and be so careful when you cut and sew.  Also how even if you cut the pieces carefully but you haven't picked the right patterns and colors your quilt won't turn out like you want it to.  Luckily, I'm not the only teacher tonight so if my part comes out lame I'm sure the other parts will be great.

I figured out how to add the pictures of the quilts I'm going to take!  I love the pink/black quilt and how depending on how you look at it you can see black stars or pink ones.  It isn't quilted yet, but it will be soon.

This crazy doll quilt is the same pattern as the pink/black one.  Obviously I deliberately chose colors and patterns that wouldn't let the stars stand out to make my point.  I still think it is kind of cute in a really random way.  My 10 year old loves it so she can have it for her dolls.  I need to finish binding it before tonight though!
